Meet our doctor

Dr Brittany Shearn graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1998 with a Masters of Dental Science, after working in general Dentistry for 4 years. Dr Brittany Shearn started working in clinics in Port Melbourne and Brighton whilst also consulting at the Royal Children’s Hospital in the Cleft lip and palate and craniofacial abnormalities specialty.

In October 2001, Dr Brittany Shearn opened Bayside Orthodontists in Albert Park. By building the practice from the ground up, Dr Brittany Shearn was given a blank canvas with which she used to develop the open plan clinic you see today. This allows for a relaxing, friendly and free-flowing environment for both staff and patients.

In 2003, Dr Brittany Shearn relocated to Dubai with her family, where she joined a large international practice with 50+ dentists and specialists.

Consulting as an Australian orthodontist in Dubai, Dr Brittany Shearn learned to embrace forward-thinking orthodontic practice concepts from a global dental community.

Whilst in Dubai, Dr Brittany Shearn maintained Bayside Orthodontists remotely and would fly back every six weeks to continue seeing and treating her patients.

To supplement her regular commutes back to Melbourne, Dr Brittany Shearn utilised the continuing advances in digital technology both in clinic and practice management software.

Dr Brittany Shearn has continued to embrace and adopt the digital advancements occurring within orthodontics and has utilised these to make orthodontic treatment more accessible and convenient for her patients.

Through the use of Dental Monitoring, Dr Brittany Shearn has been able to minimise the number of face-to-face appointments needed for patients, resulting in less disruption to everyday life. She has also made communication with clinical staff more efficient and approachable.

In 2022, Dr Brittany Shearn celebrated 21 years at Bayside Orthodontists surrounded by her family, friends, patients, staff and referring dentists. After being a part of the community for such a long time, it offered a fantastic opportunity to thank and celebrate with those who have supported Bayside Orthodontists.

Dr Brittany Shearn loves working in the Albert Park community and the village feel it brings with it. She is an avid contributor to the local community and is actively involved both personally and through Bayside Orthodontists in fundraising for the local schools and promoting dental health to the students.

At the beginning of 2018, Dr Brittany Shearn embarked on a new adventure through the opening of Countryside Orthodontists - our regional Victorian clinic located in Stawell. Servicing the Wimmera region, Countryside Orthodontists has grown fast into the local community.

Dr Brittany Shearn sees patients once a month and manages treatment remotely through Dental Monitoring. A staff member is also available in Stawell three days a week, from Wednesday to Friday, for pickups, scanning, and any additional support if needed.

When not making Bayside and Countryside Smiles, Dr Brittany Shearn loves spending time with her husband, 2 sons, 2 cats and 1 dog. She loves gardening, running, listening to inspirational podcasts and travelling. Dr Brittany Shearn and the Bayside team are avid bakers, and they often share baked goodies, recipes and treats to get them through the afternoon rush.
