Your first visit
At Bayside Orthodontists, your first step isn’t in the clinic - it’s from the comfort of your own home.
We’ve designed a two-step process to give you clarity before you commit, so you can make confident decisions about your treatment without unnecessary appointments.
Step 1: Your virtual appointment (15 minutes)
Your journey starts with a 15-minute virtual consultation with our Specialist Orthodontist, Dr Britt Shearn.
This isn’t just an introduction - it’s a decision-making appointment designed to give you clear, expert answers before you ever step into the practice.
In just 15 minutes, you’ll understand:
Whether orthodontic treatment is right for you or your child
How long treatment is likely to take
What the investment will look like
No guesswork. No unnecessary clinic visits. Just clear, professional guidance.
Why we start virtually
Most orthodontic practices ask you to come into the clinic first.
We take a different approach.
Our virtual appointment is designed to:
Save you time by avoiding unnecessary in-person visits
Give you clarity before committing to treatment
Help you decide if you’re ready to take the next step
It means that when you do visit us in person, you’re informed, prepared, and confident in your decision.
Step 2: Your in-clinic appointment (30 minutes)
If you decide to move forward, we’ll invite you into the practice for your in-clinic appointment, which typically takes around 30 minutes.
This visit is focused on confirming your treatment plan and getting everything ready to begin.
During your visit, we will:
- Carry out a detailed orthodontic assessment
- Take digital scans and photographs using advanced 3D technology
- Confirm your personalised treatment plan
- Finalise costs and payment options
Because you’ve already had your virtual consultation, this appointment is efficient, focused, and tailored to you.
If you’re happy to proceed after your virtual and in-clinic consultations, we’ll finalise your treatment plan and organise your appliance. This process typically takes around 6–8 weeks, including planning, manufacturing and delivery.
What to bring to your appointment
To make your visit as smooth as possible, please bring:
- Any recent dental X-rays or referral letters (if available)
- Your health fund details
- A list of any medications
If your child is the patient, we recommend a parent or guardian attends so we can discuss the best options together.
What happens next?
Once your treatment plan is confirmed, we’ll guide you through the next steps - whether that’s starting treatment on the day or booking your preferred start date.
Our approach is designed to keep things simple, efficient, and completely tailored to you.
